10 Fun Activities to Do on Your Babymoon
As summer approaches, our minds start dreaming of vacation — especially if you’re planning a babymoon before your fall or winter baby arrives. Whether you’re headed across the state or across the world (pregnancy permitting, of course), it’s time to start getting excited for your last trip as a family of two!
Once you’ve got your babymoon destination picked out, the next step is to research some fun things to do. Frequent breaks and naps are important, but you want to make the most of your trip by researching pregnant-friendly activities beforehand, too! We at Tummy Cradle are hoping to inspire you with our list of activities for your perfect babymoon:
1. Relax on the Beach
For most couples, the point of a babymoon is to relax in a fresh setting, strengthening the bond between partners and mentally preparing for your family to grow by one. If you’ve chosen a coastal destination (or a hotel with a tranquil poolside), let the rhythmic sound of water relax and prepare you. Read a book, nibble on refreshing snacks (pineapple, anyone?) and allow you and your partner to find peace in a new place — sometimes the best plan is no plan at all!
2. Couples Massage
Refresh a tired, pregnant body with a trip to the spa. Whether it’s to soothe an achy back, reduce swelling in sore legs or cure a recurring headache, finding a prenatal massage therapist can be the solution you’re looking for. Both you and your partner will leave the experience calm and ready for the future.
3. Fine Dining
Go on a date night without having to pay for a babysitter — it may be one of the last times! Not only does the world need to witness your pregnant glow, but fine dining is also an opportunity to satisfy any cravings you’re having. You’re on vacation, so be sure to treat yourself!
4. Visit a Museum
Unfortunately, babies don’t appreciate the history of an area like adults do. In fact, they don’t seem to like museums at all — and other museum goers don’t seem to like crying babies. Enjoy getting to know the local culture without the distraction of an adorable newborn.
5. Take a Road Trip
Sometimes the journey is the destination! Road-tripping to a new city means spending quality time with your partner, witnessing know landscapes through the car window, and doing something exciting without the physical strain of walking everywhere. Especially if you’re already far into your pregnancy, a road trip is a great way to travel safely.
6. Wander and Wonder
If you’re one half of an active couple, then we’re sure you’ll appreciate a stroll around town. Especially if there’s a historic district or a happening downtown, wandering on foot is often one of the best ways to get to know a new city. Holding hands with your partner, it’s the perfect time to explore together. Don’t forget the comfy shoes and water bottle!
7. Sleep In
We all know that new parents are typically sleep deprived, so enjoy a full night of sleep together … without the midnight wake-up call. Close the blinds in the hotel or Airbnb and cuddle up!
Bringing your inflatable Tummy Cradle along is another great way to ensure you’re well rested for the entire vacation.
8. Order Room Service
Speaking of nice hotel amenities, take advantage of room service if you’re feeling a little exhausted. Remember this trip is to celebrate your pregnancy — and if you’re not feeling like going out, then spend the night in. The food should be just as yummy, and it’s the perfect opportunity to cozy up with your partner.
9. Go on a Bike Ride
Going on a bike ride around town is a fun and fast way to get your bearings in a new place! Bike rentals are incredibly popular in tourist destinations — and the best part of biking is that the bike carries all the weight, so it’s less stress on a mom-to-be. Of course, check in with your doctor before exercising.
10. Book a Photoshoot
Ditch the selfie stick and hire a professional to snap some cute pre-baby couple pictures of you and your partner. This pregnancy only lasts for nine months after all, and you’ll appreciate being able to look back on one of your favorite trips years from now!
