Best Things to Do on Valentine’s Day While Pregnant
Valentine’s Day can be a little draining, especially if you’re expecting. Romance may seem like the last thing on your mind as you prepare for baby’s arrival, but it’s important to take a night to appreciate the “right now”: give yourself a chance to relax and have fun, thank your partner for their support and enjoy some of your final moments as a family of two! We hope this list of ideas inspires you to make your own special memories this Valentine’s Day:
Get Gourmet
It’s true: “eating for two” is, in fact, a myth. And while we’re just as disappointed as you are, it doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself during your pregnancy, especially on Valentine’s Day!
So dust off the ol’ couples’ cooking class skills and make something truly special. For extra pregnancy points, pick a recipe that contains sweet potatoes, salmon or avocado — that way your baby can join in on the fun by getting their necessary vitamins and fatty acids. And don’t forget the dessert … chocolate seems to be a common cure to those pesky pregnancy cravings.
Have a Spa Day
Whether it means making a day appointment with the professionals or stocking up on face masks and candles at home, give you and your partner the full spa treatment this Valentine’s Day.
Things on the must-have list for the ultimate DIY spa day: your favorite face mask and a belly mask from Hatch, lotion or oil for a massage (lying in your Tummy Cradle makes for the best back massage for the momma-to-be), and enough bubble bath for two!
Whip Up Some Mocktails
Don’t let all the non-pregnant people have all the fun! There are a ton of delicious mocktail recipes out there — ever heard of a mango mule? Or a virgin drink called Tahitian Coffee?
We’d argue these drinks are even tastier than their alcoholic counterparts. Plus, no risk of hangover!
Vacation in Your Hometown
If you’re looking to splurge this February 14th, then play tourist in your hometown — reserve a room from that beautiful, historic hotel you pass everyday on your morning commute, order room service, and enjoy some of your last moments alone with your partner. The perfect, romantic way to usher in your future family together!
Or, for those of you who already have kids at home, getting a hotel room is an excellent chance for you and your partner to share quiet, intimate moments.
Double Date
Free-time will soon be a luxury, so spend time with your best couple friends before baby comes! Form a makeshift pub trivia team, an amateur bowling league, or just host dinner to celebrate with those you love.
Hit the Museum
You’ve heard of listening to Mozart while pregnant to boost baby’s brain? Well, going to the museum and engaging yourself in art and culture couldn’t hurt baby either.
Check out the exhibits at your local museum, and don’t let your Valentine’s hand go for the rest of the night.
Have an All-Out Movie Night
This isn’t your typical night at home! We know there’s a movie you’ve been dying to see, especially since the Oscars are right around the corner. Change up the scenery from your normal movie night: a blanket fort is not only the coziest place to watch a flick with your partner, but your future kiddo is sure to be impressed by your technique if you start practicing now.
On the way home from work, splurge and grab some popcorn from your local movie theatre — and don’t you dare skimp out on the butter!
Go Out on the Town
Sometimes, you gotta go with the classics. Get dolled up, and grab dinner and drinks (check out the mocktail recipes in #3) with your partner. You’ve got that pregnant glow, and we’re sure your partner would love the opportunity to show you off.
